La Guajira Desert, Colombia, is a coastal desert featuring large sand dunes and salt flats.

Sand from La Guajira Desert was collected by Father Yenner as part of a spiritual retreat.

“The very fact of collecting sand for this project made me realise the land where I live was important in this sculpture on the other side of the continent. I enjoyed going myself, finding people to take me to the different places to carefully choose sand. I enjoyed seeing the desert and knowing that this inhospitable place could be and will be admired in the diversity of elements that make up Mirage.
